The word is out! The Pinewood Lake Wildfire Action Group (PLWAG) was heavily featured in the Reporter-Herald for our recent neighborhood emergency evacuation drill. It is incredible to see our community's hard work and dedication to wildfire safety recognized on a larger stage.

The article highlights how our neighborhood works together to stay prepared:

  • Emergency Communications: Pete and Angie Robbins demonstrated our community GMRS radio network, showing how neighbors can stay connected and relay critical updates even when mountain cell service cuts out completely.

  • The Buddy System & Preparedness: Lisa and Gib Coalwell led presentations teaching residents about the importance of a neighborhood "buddy system" - ensuring everyone has someone nearby to check in on them, share document checklists, and help out during an actual evacuation. As Lisa wisely noted, "It needs to be a community of people helping each other."

A huge thank you to Lisa, Gib, Pete, Angie, and every single neighbor who showed up to practice and build a more resilient community. We are safer because we do this together!
