Wildfire mitigation is crucial for our community. Creating and maintaining "defensible space" around structures is the single most effective action we can take to protect our properties. The Loveland Fire Rescue Authority (LFRA) is now providing us with a new way to get slash out of our community.
The Community Slash Bin Program

When you thin out dense vegetation, remove dead trees, or clear brush from your property, you are left with a large amount of material (slash) that must be safely disposed of. Community slash bins provide a convenient, localized solution to significantly reduce fuel load.
By utilizing these bins, you can:
Reduce Fire Risk: Removing excessive slash material from your property reduces the severity and spread potential of a wildfire.
Create Defensible Space: The bins make it easier for large groups of neighbors to work together to clear high-priority zones around homes.
Ensure Proper Disposal: The program ensures that slash is removed and processed appropriately, keeping it out of sensitive areas.
The Slash Bins are delivered and removed free, however, to ensure the integrity and continued availability of the program, the LFRA requires a refundable deposit for each bin ordered.
Here is the specific breakdown of the deposit policy:
Deposit Amount: The refundable deposit is $500.00 for each slash bin you order. Payment can be made by check or card.
Purpose: This deposit is in place to cover the cost of time and disposal of any non-approved items found in the slash bin (such as trash, construction materials, or household waste).
Approved Materials: There is no disposal fee for approved slash materials. Approved materials typically include natural vegetation like branches, brush, and pine needles.
Refund Process: Once the bins are picked up by the LFRA and successfully checked for non-approved trash, the deposit will be promptly refunded to the organizer.
