County Assessor Error - Your Tax Dollars!

Back on August 26, several neighborhoods voted to be added in the LFRA Inclusion zone, to provide additional financial support, through taxes, to our local fire departments.
A condition of that approval was that we would not be subject to taxing until 2026.
However, many astute neighbors noticed that their 2025 tax bill were revised to include the assessment for the previous tax year. Below is a statement from the LRFPD ensuring that this error will be corrected:
“… the properties included through the August 26, 2025 inclusion election were not eligible to be taxed by the Loveland Rural Fire Protection District for the 2025 tax year. The recorded Orders of Inclusion occurred in October 2025, which means the District’s mill levy should not apply until the 2026 tax year (payable in 2027).
The District did not request or authorize the assessment reflected on your 2025 tax statement. This appears to be an administrative error in the County tax roll process. Since learning of the issue, the Larimer County Assessor, the County Treasurer, District legal counsel, and my office have been actively coordinating to correct it.
Our current understanding is that the Treasurer will issue updated tax statements reflecting the correction. Property owners should not need to file an appeal or take any action at this time.”
We recommend every neighbor that was included in the inclusion election to verify their property tax statement by going to the Assessors Property Tax website.
Click Here to access the Assessors Property Search page.
Enter your Last Name & Address Number and search for your home.

When your information comes up, double click on your address and you will see where your 2025 Taxes are going. If it shows a Mill Levy of 8.00 for Loveland Fire District, then you may have been billed incorrectly.

While we have been told we do not need to take any action, if you want to let them know the error impacts you, please contact the Assessors Office at:
We will continue to monitor this.
