The Pinewood Lake Wildfire Action Group, in partnership with Loveland Fire Rescue Authority (LFRA), is offering two free slash drop-off days in April. The drop-off site is near the Larimer County Natural Resources Administration building at 1800 S. County Rd. 31.

The days are Sunday, April 6 and Sunday, April 13, from 8 a.m. to Noon each day. The total amount of slash we can accept over the two-day period is 34 truck loads, which is what the LFRA can effectively burn in the Air Curtain Burner within the time frame they can have it on that site.

A truck load is the amount of slash that can fit in a standard 6-foot truck bed.

If you are interested in participating, please reply to me by Wednesday, April 2, and let me know which day(s) you'd like to drop off your slash, and about how many truck loads of slash you think you might have. If you need assistance in transporting your slash, please let me know that as well.

Send an email to communications@plwag.org

The quantity allowed for each resident will depend on the total amount of slash and participants. We will get back to you to let you know how much slash you can drop off -- thank you for understanding why we have to have limits!

These are the materials the LFRA will accept:

  • Woody-type material, 6" in diameter or less

  • Branches cut to a maximum of 8 ft. long

Please do NOT bring any of the following:

  • Any small slash that needs to be shoveled instead of picked up by hand, such as pine needles and pine cones not attached to branches, or chipped/mulched slash; we are working on ways to help you get rid of that material, since the LFRA's Air Curtain Burner isn't really designed to handle those items

  • Trash, scrap lumber, or creosote railroad ties

  • Other non-vegetative debris

We may also need volunteers to help haul slash for neighbors who don't have the means to do so. Please let me know if you have a truck or trailer and would be willing to help transport slash.
