
Larimer County Fire Restrictions
On September 2, 2025, the Larimer County Board of Commissioners voted to extend the fire restrictions that were adopted on August 7, 2025. These restrictions for the unincorporated portions of Larimer County are now in effect until 11:59 p.m. on September 30, 2025.

Key points of the restrictions:

This is not a fire ban, but it does place restrictions on open fires, fireworks, combustible devices, public firework displays, and incendiary devices.

The restrictions apply only to the unincorporated portions of Larimer County over 6,000 feet in elevation. The county has a zoned approach to fire risk, dividing the area into three zones: below 6,000 feet, 6,000–9,000 feet, and above 9,000 feet.

Pinewood Reservoir is located at an elevation of approximately 6,580 feet.
Prohibited activities:

Uncontained open fires

Smoking in the open, including on trails, parks, and open spaces

Fireworks or firework displays

Incendiary devices, such as sky lanterns, exploding ammunition, exploding targets, and tracer ammunition

Welding
Permitted activities:

Fireplaces or wood stoves located inside a residence

Gas-fueled fires, including grills and camping stoves

Camping and cooking fires in developed camping areas

Fires in permanently constructed masonry fire pits
